Live Review: …And You Will Know us by the Trail of Dead, born Anchors, Future of the Left 10/13

The evening kicked off with Seattle’s very own, Born Anchors. Gregory Scott’s guitar-playing has a quality similar to the post-hardcore stylings of fellow Seattle band, These Arms are Snakes. And given Jason Parker’s wailing/singing tones, their sound is even reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age. Despite the thin crowd, they rocked it and seemed to put in their all. If nothing else, Justin Martinez, on drums, just kept smiling throughout the set.
Quick update

We are working on pre-production for our next record tentatively titled ‘animal skins’.
We begin recording the 2nd week in Nov. which is coming frighteningly quick. Chris Common will be engineering the sessions and Jason is producing. We’ll start posting updates and pics from the whole process next week, it should prove to be entertaining.
All three of us are really excited about the record and how the sound has evolved since last April when Sprezzatura was released. so keep checking back.

I’m very excited about this show, Future of the Left was by far the best band I saw at Block Party this year. They were new, refreshing, not a throw-back to some other past era and not a reunion tour. Good NEW rock bands are few and far between these days.
